This blog was started so that we could share our favourite inspirational design photos with you, and we would like to give you the opportunity to share yours with us as well. This is what we need you to do. We welcome links to great design sites or photos, but links are preferred so our inboxes don't fill up. If sending photos, please clearly state the name of your source whether magazine (and date if you have it), book (include author’s name and publisher) or website. Also please include your name so we can give you the credit, and a link to your site if you have one. The more information we have the more valuable this resource will become. There that was easy wasn’t it? Please remember that we cannot post if your photo is not adequately sourced. Now let’s have fun!

Angus Caravelli

Martha Angus and Paula Caravelli formed their Manhattan based design firm Angus Caravelli in 2005. With an eye for the fine arts and award winning architectural design the duo produce refined interiors with a keen understanding of colour and contemporary artwork. Featured in all the top interior design magazines their understated elegance and witty touches make these luxurious rooms livable, lovely and fun.

Otras Ventanas - other windows

Gabi is a mother of 3 in Santiago Chile. She hopes of becoming a designer and in the meantime dreams of beautiful things. Otras Ventanas is the name of her blog where she shares her finds and practices her english but her triumph is her Flickr site under the same name were she collects the most amazing and exuberant images. Her kids' rooms set is an inspiration. I met Gabi when I first started with Flickr and her joyous love of colour and fun brings a smile to my face. This is just a small sample of her images. And the good thing is that almost all are sourced so if you like what you see you can go in search of more. Thanks for sharing Gabi!

Teresa Sapey

Italian-born architect Teresa Sapey's website is in Spanish, but after a quick google search, she is apparently the director of the most fashionable interior design studio in Madrid. Her use of curves adds an unexpected softness to her predominantly modern designs.

Steven Miller

Steven Miller’s style is sophisticated and stylish with a sense of fun and whimsy. “We all know intuitively that life is better when we live, work, or play in a beautiful space,” says Miller. “Designers get to make that happen. It’s a privilege and a challenge—and for me, a joy.” His interiors are eclectic - traditional, modern, elegant, or OTT. AND he's not afraid to use Ikea.

Suzanne Kasler

How I love the beauty of Atlanta based interior designer Suzanne Kasler's rooms! Serene and sophisticated. "Suzanne brings a fresh mix of continental flavor and classic style, emphasizing light, scale, and architectural elements of space, creating collected interiors. Working closely with clients and architects, Suzanne incorporates a practical sensibility into the space creating a lifestyle that reflects her clients’ personality and way of living. Blending her clients’ special collections and art with antiques, contemporary pieces, and custom-designed furniture, Suzanne Kasler’s interiors possess a timeless quality and comfortable sophistication." Couldn't have said it better.

Jack Levy Design

Jack Levy is a nationally recognized designer that has been featured in many magazines such as Interior Design, Traditional Home, House & Garden and Veranda. "Jack believes in breaking the rules of traditional design;silk velvet on ultra modern pieces or as a contrast, burlap on signed Louis XVI pieces. He is inspired by the tranquility of nature, specifically stones and water and adds exuberent color taken from elements of nature and his travels. Jack's style is most often noted as luxuriously simple." And he breaks the rules VERY well. Love his pairing of bold colors with traditional furniture and artwork.

New posters for my library

Just bought some posters off eBay for my new retro library. They're cuban movie posters and just about the only retro looking posters I could find anywhere that weren't rock band related.

And, while I type this, there are 4 guys in my backyard building my deck and fence. FINALLY!!! I'll post some pics eventually, once I get the landscaping done.

Found an excellent website for Chicago Home magazine. Below is a selection of my favourite photos, with some eclectic modern art and lighting to die for.

Modern in BrisVegas

I live in Brisbane fondly known by the locals as BrisVegas. I'm on the hunt for a new house. Here's one in Taringa that got away.

Bourgie lamp

The Bourgie lamp, designed by Ferruccio Laviani for Kartell, is one of my favourite lamps. I love the juxtaposition of the baroque shape with the modern edge of the polycarbonate plastic. So for those who share my love of this lamp, enjoy some Bourgie porn.

Matthew Smyth

Matthew Smyth creates these lush and luxurious spaces. They draw you in with their rich colours, textures and materials. Detail is paramount (check the drape detail) and classic is the vibe.

Eileen Kathryn Boyd Interiors

Eileen Boyd is a Long Island based interior designer but her clients range further afield. Her eclectic mix of modern and classic elements is refined and simple in it's crisp elegance but look closer and you will notice the firm's attention to detain. A second office has recently opened in New York. Eileen’s work has been featured in publications such as ELLE Décor, Traditional Home, Better Homes & Gardens and House Beautiful. Linger in the details below for inspiration.

Photos from Norway

In my searches for photos of beautiful rooms, I came across a website called Ifi from Norway. It doesn't really matter that I understood maybe 3 words on the site, all that matters is that they had some blog-worthy photos of interiors.

Diamond Baratta Design

William Diamond and Anthony Baratta began their partnership 25 years ago. Their firm is hugely successful. They have over 25 magazine covers to their name, including House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, House & Garden, Southern Accents, The World of Interiors, Traditional Home, and Veranda. "Best known for their great diversity of styles in a grand scale, Diamond Baratta's design projects include residential projects in French, English, and American styles -- and a newly inventive Modern style. All include the Diamond Baratta dynamic of enlarged scale and genius color interpretation". I love their style - it reminds me of a slightly subdued/less whimsical Jonathan Adler.

Nick's place

I eagerly await each new month at Domino. No not the magazine but the website. I can't find the magazine here in Australia so the monthly online update is my eagerly awaited fix. And this month's held a pleasant surprise, more photos of Nick Olsen's home. I know it has been featured in the magazine (and we've posted the first 2 pictures before) but I, along with most of our overseas readers, haven't seen it. Nick has a great sense of style. It's witty, classic yet electic with lashings of Hollywood Regency thrown in and embraces colour in all its glory. I loved it when I saw the first few pictures now the room is more complete for me.

All images from Domino

P.S. I've just noticed that Anna has posted her favourites from this months Domino on Absolutely Beautiful Things. If you haven't been to her website you're in for a treat!

Gemma Comas

I have the utmost respect for photographers. These artists can capture the essence of a room and bring it alive for us on the pages of magazines and catalogues. Gemma Comas is responsible for one of my favourite Domino photos. So I followed the trail and found Gemma's website. Beautiful. This talented photographer stops time and makes you gasp at the beauty of the simple and the serene. These are just a few photos from her interior portfolio. Don't miss her website for more stunning images from her portfolio.
