This blog was started so that we could share our favourite inspirational design photos with you, and we would like to give you the opportunity to share yours with us as well. This is what we need you to do. We welcome links to great design sites or photos, but links are preferred so our inboxes don't fill up. If sending photos, please clearly state the name of your source whether magazine (and date if you have it), book (include author’s name and publisher) or website. Also please include your name so we can give you the credit, and a link to your site if you have one. The more information we have the more valuable this resource will become. There that was easy wasn’t it? Please remember that we cannot post if your photo is not adequately sourced. Now let’s have fun!

Retro revisited

Another retro book find. I found this one in a Salvation Army thrift shop. Home Decorating Using Light, edited by Harry Butler. Marshall Cavendish, 1972. Forgive the graininess of the photos. The images are 35 years old after all. But the rooms though retro are fresh and just as inspiring today.

Front Studio

Rigorous design standards blended with a sense of humour. Front Studio's principles Yen Ha and Michi Yanageshita pursue a combination of art and architecture. Intensive exploration of their clients' needs and site constraints is balanced by their obsessive pursuit of Lunch. The girls and I swapped flickr contacts a few weeks ago. I'm impressed by their design talent and their intensive pursuit of the answer to "what's for lunch?"

The Panton S chair obsession continues...

Sadly, I still have not made a purchase of (at least) one of these. So instead I post photos of this stunning chair which only serve to whet my appetite even further. Oh well.

Stripes

Stripes are a fun graphic way to address walls, and can make a room look longer or taller. They can be a pain to paint (I can vouch for that) but there are many wallpapers out there now that can save you some of the grief. They look great anywhere, as seen here, in bedrooms, dining rooms, hallways, living rooms....

Fuse Lighting

Mark Cutler is a good friend of this blog and has his own great blog. One of his links is to Fuse Lighting who custom made this fabulous chandelier to his design.

I thought I'd share some more of their amazing lighting. Semi precious stones and capiz shell are some of their materials. Love that looooooong shell chandelier!

Tony Ingrao

Tony Ingrao is a designer based in New York and has an incredible range of style - from classic to modern. He is known to have a Versace-like flair for drama and luxury. He has a passion for antiques and opened an exclusive high-end art and antiques gallery in Manhatten. I love his bold use of colour, pattern and artwork.

Upside down winter

Most of our readers live in the northern hemisphere where spring is sprung (except if you're Kim and shovelling slush in Canada). Here downunder the weather is slowly turning chilly. Time for us to think of fireplaces. Look at these beautiful pieces of art. Funky and functional from Focus a French company founded in the 60s by Dominique Imbert.

P.S. Even if you're from up north now is a great time to think about installing that fab fireplace for next year!

Sixty Hotel

Studio 63 is an architecture and design firm located in Florence, Italy that was started in 1998 by Piero Angelo Orecchioni and Massimo Dei. They designed the Sixty Hotel in Riccione, Italy and it is a modern, minimal masterpiece. I would LOVE to stay here.

Diana Viñoly

Diana Viñoly is a brilliant New York designer. Her portfolio had me totally drooling all over my laptop. I am in awe of anyone who is bold enough to display huge artwork and she does over and over and over again. She had so many gorgeous photos of rooms designed in her eclectic style that I had a hard time decided which to use in this post.

London based Collett-Zarzycki successfully combines architecture, interior design, interior decorating and landscape design. It is this multidisciplinary approach that has created this amazing portfolio. Their environments mix the traditional and the contemporary. Andrej Zarzycki and Anthony Collet have a 25 strong team whose work spans from Zarzycki's native Africa to France and London. Beautiful, classic, diverse, contemporary. Their work shows an understanding of their client's needs and the sense of location.
