This blog was started so that we could share our favourite inspirational design photos with you, and we would like to give you the opportunity to share yours with us as well. This is what we need you to do. We welcome links to great design sites or photos, but links are preferred so our inboxes don't fill up. If sending photos, please clearly state the name of your source whether magazine (and date if you have it), book (include author’s name and publisher) or website. Also please include your name so we can give you the credit, and a link to your site if you have one. The more information we have the more valuable this resource will become. There that was easy wasn’t it? Please remember that we cannot post if your photo is not adequately sourced. Now let’s have fun!

Penelope Tang

I mentionned Peneloppe Tang's beautiful porcelain in a post a few days ago. She had emailed me to thank me for the mention but since we usually post only interiors I hadn't included any photos. I was feeling a bit guilty and since we post about pretty much anything on weekends, I thought this was a great opportunity to show her work. Her pieces are handmade and thus one-of-a-kind, of oxidation-fired porcelain and hand-mixed pigments. STUNNING.

Vicente Wolf

A giant of the American design scene Vicente Wolf. Key words are integrity, simplicity, beauty. His rooms are sensuous cocoons, cool and luminous, sublime and seductive. I think I'm running out of superlatives.

Spring cleaning

Time for a change. Kim and I wanted a fresh look, something that reflects the colour trends we're seeing and something that lets the amazing pictures shine through without distracting backgrounds. We also wanted a banner that reflected our aim of inspiring you the readers. Wings to let your imagination take flight. What do you think? Isn't Kim one talented girl? It's all her lovely work!

Semiramis Hotel

"Hotels today make you feel like you're living in the previous century. That's the last thing I want to do." - Karim Rashid

The Semiramis hotel in Athens was Karim Rashid's first hotel project. "The Semiramis is an intimate hotel that focuses on positive energy, heightened experiences, culture, art, and design. It is a place for new contemporary experiences, to enjoy, work, and relax in a truly memorable way."

Little girl's bedroom

Homes and GardensLiving Etc.

Pink Mohair is looking for decorating ideas for her 3 year old daughter's room. So I figured I would just post some of my favourite photos for her to get some ideas...and for anyone else looking to decorate a little girl's room. (Pink seems to be the theme - hard to find non-pink girl's rooms).

Carr Design

In one of my bedroom posts I featured a photo from award winning Australian architectural and interior design firm Carr. They are the creators of this amazing space. Of all the stellar images on their website, this loft is my favourite. Take the time to view their portfolio. It's inspiring.

Betsy Burnham

My favourite red room is by Betsy Burnham. I know a lot of you are already familiar with her work but it is remiss of me not to give her the full credit her work deserves and do another post. Betsy commented on the red room post and said she was doing a new house for the lucky client who gets to work in that fabulous room. She also revealed that she has new photos of recent work but hasn't found the time yet to update her website. Please do Betsy. I know we'd all love to see more of your amazing work. For those of you who have never been to Burnham Design's wonderful website you're in for a treat.

I love this apartment

I recently posted about Christopher Coleman. This is his apartment. Graphic, layered, lush and quirky. Great ideas for a small space. Black has never looked so good. That striped shelving unit is a Lack bookcase and some coloured tape! And what about those metal ball curtains.

All images from New York Social Diary.

NYSD is a great source of beautiful images of the homes of NY designers and social doyennes. If you have the time their house archives are amazing. Oh how the other half lives.

Leah's project(s)

We received an email from fellow blogger Leah to tell us about her blog england construction project that chronicles her and her husband's new house being built and their (her? LOL) decor decisions. From what I can see it's going to be a gorgeous home!

I also couldn't help notice her other blog called lowcountry dog blog created to plug her dog magazine Lowcountry Dog. Here are some photos from the newest issue. (So adorable!!!)

New Ikea site

Jo and I received an email today from David Farrer Faz about Be Brave, not Beige, a microsite created for Ikea. There's some hilarious videos of people dancing and a beige room that you can customize with some Ikea textiles (example I did below). "This campaign is a rallying cry to everyone who is tired of the bland beigeness which has taken over their homes in recent years. Enough of this tyranny of the middle-of-the-road, our houses should be bold, vibrant and individual."

Passionate for pink

I am still in love with the colour pink so I gathered some photos of rooms that use this colour for those of you who share my passion for pink.

Favourite things

The cardscape mail organiser. This is such a cool idea. Great for keeping those bits of paper tidy and looks stylish as well, full or empty. Designed by architect Eduardo Rosa and illustrator Aude Van Ryn the base is a vehicle air filter. Four specially designed cards slot in as well as eight metal clips creating a myriad of urban scapes. Snap, slot, mix. Fun!

Barry Rice

Here's one for the mid century fans out there. Barry Rice is a talented Brooklyn based interior designer. He also happens to be Ted Allen's (Queer Eye fame) partner. This is their apartment, an amazing collection of mid century pieces including Paul McCobb and Paul Evans. Collections are displayed with finesse and there is a playfulness in the furniture chosen, no design classic on a pedestal mentality here. A dream apartment for a mid century fan. Love it!

Charles Allem

Charles Allem prides himself on not having a signature style. (He also brings new meaning to the term "monochromatic").

"I never repeat the same design - there's no formula to my work. The interiors I create run the gamet: Louis XIV, Rococo, Art Deco, Contemporary, Minimalist..." The only thing these disparate projects can be counted on to have in common is the glamour of individual identity, given that Allem regards each of his individual undertakings as "a canvas on which to create something new and extraordinary".

Rustic kitchens

Although if I ever end up redoing my kitchen it would have a modern streamlined vibe, I still have a love and fascination for kitchens that are quite the opposite. I'll call it "rustic". You know, muted colours, pots and utensils hanging on the walls, lots of open storage to display beautiful dishes, and large furniture in place of cabinets. It's such a welcoming look, imagine a big centre island with family and friends gathered around, helping with the cooking while sharing great conversation.
