This blog was started so that we could share our favourite inspirational design photos with you,
and we would like to give you the opportunity to share yours with us as well.
This is what we need you to do. We welcome links to great design sites or photos, but links are
preferred so our inboxes don't fill up. If sending photos, please clearly state the name of your
source whether magazine (and date if you have it), book (include author’s name and publisher) or website.
Also please include your name so we can give you the credit, and a link to your site if you have one.
The more information we have the more valuable this resource will become. There that was easy wasn’t it?
Please remember that we cannot post if your photo is not adequately sourced. Now let’s have fun!
I love Easter. All those chocolate bunnies, the ones with the long ears. Yum. I stumbled on this site and just had to share. Matthew Mead is a stylist extraordinaire. His beautiful site is full of Easter ideas, crafts, decorating and food. To top it off there are free downloads. Check out his other seasonal offerings in the bonus section. Enjoy!
So this has nothing to do with interior design images but I just found this and had to post it, well, because I can. This art by Ray Caesar is so wild and totally has a Mark Ryden vibe to it. I love the first photo.
I was going through some Elle Decoration magazines I have and noticed that most of my favourite photos were of black and white colour schemes. So this post is all about black and white. Miss BlackWhiteBliss, here's another one for ya.
Kim and I received an email from Jodie Fried. Jodie is the woman behind the inspired idea of bholu. The range includes cushions, throws, journals, slippers and a cute children's range of line and cuddlies. Products are designed in Australia but brought to life by Gujarati women in India using traditional techniques and motifs drawn by children of the slums. Even better bholu is a Fair Trade company and part of the proceeds go back to the women and their communities, along with funding educational facilities for underprivileged children.
D'Ette Cole sent me pictures from last year's Clutter as a taste of what you can expect this year. D'Ette unfortunately has sold her share of Clutter to concentrate on Etta Industry but no fear it will still be as amazing as ever. So if you're in the vicinity of Warrenton, Texas make a bee line to this fabulous round top antique sale from March 30 to April 7.
I love seeing how people group objects together to form a vignette. Whether you do it with objects similar in colour or objects of the same form or just plopping a bunch of knickknacks down on top of a dresser, I like to think of it as art. And it's something you can switch around often to keep things interesting in your home. I know - I do it ALL THE TIME.
Richardson Sadeki is a design firm that provides architectural, graphic, packaging and web design for residential and commercial applications. Here are some photos from two modern apartments in New York City that this firm designed.
I first saw Eric Cohler's work on This Old House when he worked his magic on a barn conversion. Eric Cohler has been dubbed the "Mixmaster" for his use of contemporary materials, which, juxtaposed with classical elements, give his interiors a jolt of unusual color and texture, as well as great comfort.
I love this spread of an Amsterdam home from an Elle Decoration magazine I have. The colour scheme in every room is black and white so what's not to love? Hard to believe this place is 200 years old.
Kim has warned me not to do this but I can't help myself! So so wrong. Furs on the ceiling are not good karma but OMG isn't it confronting. Check out the rest of the house here.
This has to be the best art wall I've ever seen. Notice that everything is framed in white. This adds a common element to the diverse selection of style and colour and makes it work. And work REALLY REALLY well.
Ex-pat Australian Antony Todd now calls New York home. A master of interior design, event staging and flowers Antony's Aussie charm, skill and passion have earned him the praise of celebrity clientele, major corporations and the design savvy. I've only featured his interiors here. Check out his website for his amazing event staging and flowers. Beautiful!
Bluster Heath Design are a dynamic and responsive British architectural and interior design practice who specialise where possible in environmentally sensitive solutions. Nikki and Oliver met in design school and have been practising successfully since 1998. You may recognise Oliver in one of the photos from his BBC TV appearances.
A while back Jo published a post about colour. In this post was the following photo featuring an incredible mirror.

I received a lovely email today from Marcel Opstal, who, with his wife Maya Basyroel, design and manufacture their own range of furniture, including the mirror above. Their company is called Box Furniture and they are based out of Jakarta, Indonesia. Their furniture is exquisite and I am amazed at how well they mix Eastern influences with contemporary design. Here are some photos from their catalog and a small sample of the items they designed.
Design hotels is a website that features a collection of over 140 independent hotels united by progressive design. I love posting about hotels - it's where you can find some of the most innovative and extreme decor. (I will be doing a couple of posts from this site)
Scott Sanders started his New York based design firm in 2000. When he decided to rent a summer house for 10 weeks one summer, the owner agreed to let him redecorate it. For $2500 he turned it into one "groovy pad" (it appears with lots of help from Ikea).
Wid Chapman Architects is an award winning firm specialising in residential and hospitality design. Wid Chapman himself was Chair of Interior Design at Parson's School of Design. Plenty of ideas to file away here including the great use of negative space and voids. I love the hallway picture hanging system.
I found this CRAZY apartment and knew I had to post it. I can't say much about it because it was on a russian magazine's website. I think OMG says it all anyway. That and someone appears to have a thing for cartoons.
These amazing images are not what they seem. Not photographs but computer renderings. The work is that of Turkish company Ozhan Hazirl Interior Architecture, 3D modeller and 3D animator. Check out the website and rub your eyes in disbelief.
