This blog was started so that we could share our favourite inspirational design photos with you, and we would like to give you the opportunity to share yours with us as well. This is what we need you to do. We welcome links to great design sites or photos, but links are preferred so our inboxes don't fill up. If sending photos, please clearly state the name of your source whether magazine (and date if you have it), book (include author’s name and publisher) or website. Also please include your name so we can give you the credit, and a link to your site if you have one. The more information we have the more valuable this resource will become. There that was easy wasn’t it? Please remember that we cannot post if your photo is not adequately sourced. Now let’s have fun!

Does she still live here? Did she ever? Do we care?

Ah Paris Hilton poor little rich girl. Most of you have probably seen this before but I want to know does she still live here? Has it been refurbed since? Pink, blonde, frilly, frivolous, expensive and at times classy. And that's her villa. Paris is another story.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

A little touch of the Irish. Green, a colour much maligned but look again. Fun, offbeat and unexpected. Have a wonderful Paddies Day and don't drink too much Guinness unless you really have to.

Nicole Apatoff

More and more Kim and I are being drawn to rooms that feature contemporary photographic art works. Nicole Apatoff emailed wanting to share her amazing photography. Her interpretation of modern architecture as well as her sensitive lifestyle depictions mark her as a young photographer to watch. I'm fascinated by her digital tessellation works. Don't forget to visit her Flickr site as well.

THANK YOU!!!

Woke up this morning Australian time , read my emails, looked at the stat counter.....and fell off my chair. Our hits had gone through the roof. Why? Because the wonderful Heather B. Armstrong had posted us on her iconic blog dooce.

I squealed like a little pig with joy. Kim did too when I told her. Thank you Heather. As a 6 week old blog we are overwhelmed by the support and encouragement the blogosphere is giving us. And a big thank you to all of you who read this little blog. It makes it all worthwhile to know that you like what we do. Now on with more room porn!!

View

Can you imagine having windows like this...AND having a view like this??!!

Chalkboards

I love chalkboards - because they are black, one of my favourite colours, and because they are really handy to have around. You never have to scramble to find a piece of paper when you are on the phone trying to take a message. If you don't have one, you should.

Italian Hotel

I am partial to anything Italian...maybe because I am one. Half of one anyway. When I saw Linda's post on her blog of this Italian hotel chain I knew I had to do a post - there were so many gorgeous photos on Casa Howard's website. So many in fact that I will be publishing a second post with more shortly.

Roger Hirsch Architect

Award winning SoHo based architectural firm Roger Hirsch Architect produce imaginative, functional balanced work. Designs encompass residential and commercial but I think their spatial solutions for apartment living are their forte. The murphy bed solution in the fourth picture is genius. More drool worthy ideas on their website.

Doll's house of my dreams

Iconic Australian company Dinosaur Designs is known for its sensuous resin jewellery and home wares. While drooling over their latest collection I stumbled upon this and smiled. Oh I wish I had this doll's house as a child. The unique pad was auctioned to raise money for the Leukemia Foundation of NSW in 2001 and was donated by the purchaser to the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney.

All images Dinosaur Designs.

P.S. If you don't know their work check out their site especially their jewellery...ooh and their home wares, all of it ... yum.

Kitchen close up

So it's 10.30am in the morning in Australia. Kim is off having dinner and I'm on holidays and still blogging!! Thought I'd show a kitchen close up from Real Living that takes my fancy. My most favourite thing at the moment is vintage bus/tram/train rolls. Have several myself none in my kitchen though!

Kitchen

So it's 7 pm and I'm starving. Too busy chatting with Jo on MSN to get up and make dinner. So I thought I'd post a photo of a really nice kitchen...that happens to be Sarah Jessica Parker/Matthew Broderick's from Elle Decor. (And how cute is that Enzo Mari La Mela print?!?!)

Yellow, Grey, Black, White

This colour combination in some form or another seems to be a hot topic of conversation lately among design blogs. To my surprise I found an old British Homes & Gardens magazine with a few rooms decorated in this fabulous palette of acid yellow, grey, black and white.

Dogs and chairs again!

Image from Cadwallader Design.

Hi Kim! Found another dog and chair photo. This one is for you.
P.S. That's one of my favourite chairs on the right, the Armchair 400 by Alvo Aalto and what I think is a Rhodesian ridgeback.

Michael Haverland

Micheal Haverland clearly has a thing for classic mid-century furniture. His designs are centered around these and lots of modern artwork. Anyone with the balls to use a pink Eames lounger in a space is on the top of my list of designers to admire.

Urban Prairie

Chris Brown is the genius behind Urban Prairie. A man with a finely tuned eye for the found and forlorn, Chris' edgy out of the box country style is inspiring the next generation of "found" collectors. Probably the funkiest looking site I've seen in ages. Chris says, “I’ve found that the people that are drawn to my style, my design sense are more than just collectors. They are people who want to live a simple life with things they love around them - in an interesting way.” Don't miss his blog Urban Prairie Refueled or his profiles of other collectors and interview with D'Ette Cole.

All images from Urban Prairie website. The ones marked Marfa Texas are from the Marfa Installation by the fabulous D'Ette Cole who was featured here.

Dogs and chairs

This seems to be a recurring theme with me. I love dogs and I love chairs. Here's another dog on a chair from modliving's Flickr photostream of her pomeranian puppy Jador.

Modern steel and concrete home

I was looking through some old magazines and found some photos in Ottawa Magazine of the home of architect Hank Kloosterman in the Gatineau Hills. Who knew there was such a fabulous modern home in the midst of the forest?

He has some fabulous MCM chairs, that suit the modern interior. Amazing red galvanized steel ceiling, concrete floors and cement block walls (the home is made up of 2,800 of them).

Obviously a lover of steel, the fireplace is made of painted red l-beams and the bathroom is surrounded in steel. The bathroom sink is VERY creative - made from a wok, glass plate and a funnel.
