This blog was started so that we could share our favourite inspirational design photos with you, and we would like to give you the opportunity to share yours with us as well. This is what we need you to do. We welcome links to great design sites or photos, but links are preferred so our inboxes don't fill up. If sending photos, please clearly state the name of your source whether magazine (and date if you have it), book (include author’s name and publisher) or website. Also please include your name so we can give you the credit, and a link to your site if you have one. The more information we have the more valuable this resource will become. There that was easy wasn’t it? Please remember that we cannot post if your photo is not adequately sourced. Now let’s have fun!

We've been here for a month!

One month...OMG. It's been so much fun but lots of work! The most exciting thing is all the friends we've made and all the support you've given us. Kim and I only met a couple of months ago on Flickr and look at us now. So the cupcakes are a thank you for all of you who visit and like what you see. Happy first month birthday to all of us! We're really keen to know where you all come from. Let us know in the comments. Thanks again for your support.

August Interiors

Gregory Augustine created his Philadelphia firm August Interiors in 2004. Fabrics are his favourite inspiration, as a way to build a palette and design concept. His style is eclectic and makes for some very intriguing rooms.

The China Club, Berlin

An exclusive members club in the old and new centre of Berlin, the China Club was founded and designed by Anne Maria Jagdfelt. An interesting juxtaposition of bygone luxury and marxist propaganda I'd love to settle in for a scotch and the International Herald Tribune.

Really REALLY dark walls

I would love to paint a room black. I love drama. A black room (or a really dark brown) is all about drama. Not too many people are willing to go so far as to paint a room this dark. Well, now you can live vicariously through these photos.

Jupiter Ray Project

This has nothing to do with interiors or design. Nothing at all. But I just had to post about my co-worker's band, Jupiter Ray Project. They officially released a CD (their second one) and have been getting lots of publicity here in Ottawa lately. This morning when we were at coffee, Jack pulled out the Ottawa Citizen newspaper and there was a HUGE picture of himself and his wife Shannon with a great article about their band. I am so proud of them. They have beautiful voices - and I listen to their CD all the time. It's very mellow - I think he calls it "folk-rock". Here's their website where you can order the CD. CONGRATS GUYS!!!!!

Steven Miller Design Studio

Steven Miller has been in the business for 13 years. Not one to follow trends, his usage of "clean lines, expressive materials, sophisticated eclecticism, conversational texture and color" makes him a fantastic designer. I love love LOVE his work.

More weird and wacky art

Thought you may enjoy more photos of weird, wacky, freaky and just plain strange artwork.

Verner Panton

"The main purpose of my work is to provoke people into using their imagination. Most people spend their lives housing in dreary, grey-beige conformity, mortally afraid of using colours. By experimenting with colours, textiles and furniture and utilizing the latest technologies, I try to new ways, to try to encourage people to use their fantasy and make their surroundings more exciting." - Verner Panton 1926-1998

The first four images are archival photos of Panton interiors. The last four are some of his design classics. For more amazing images check out Verner Panton Design.

Kelley Proxmire

There's something crisp and tailored about Kelley Proxmire's work.
Bright colours punctuate a white background. A little classic, a lot classy. My vibe is mid century but the freshness of the blue and green and the juiciness of that raspberry, yum. And the tang of lemon? I can almost taste it.

HGTV looking for unique ways to get cozy

I received an email this afternoon from Michelle Phillips who asked if we would post this notice. So here ya go.

Sirens Media is currently researching a program for HGTV. The show will feature a variety of homes across America that incorporate interesting elements that promote relaxation. A unique pillow room? A stream of water that trickles throughout the bedrooms? You've heard of art for art's sake right? Well we're interested in comfort for comfort's sake. Please send pictures and information to Michelle.

I've been looking for an excuse to post this photo - perhaps this is NOT something Michelle is looking for. This isn't relaxing - this is a nightmare.

Nate Berkus

In honour of Apartment Therapy's Maxwell and family's appearance on Oprah today (which I just finished watching - it was awesome!), I thought it was a good time to publish this post.

We all know Nate Berkus - Oprah's designer buddy. He is a cutie-patootie and turns out he has some pretty amazing photos of his work on his website. Here are some of my favourites.

Tulip chair

White on White

Tulip chairs are so iconic and adorable. I always wanted a tulip chair and recently bought 2 knock-offs at a local retro antique store for my bedroom. So I thought I would do a post on tulip chairs because I am just so damn proud of myself for owning some of my own!

Florence Broadhurst

We've seen her designs in every influential interior design magazine. Her patterns grace fabric, wallpaper, accessories and now fill the pages of a stunning new book. Florence Broadhurst is a design icon not just in her home country of Australia but deservedly worldwide. Hers was a colourful career from outback Queensland via cabaret singing in Shanghai to couturier in London and back to Australia, where from the mid fifties until her unsolved murder in 1977 at the age of 78, Florence created a body of work that leaves us gasping today. Her astounding designs are now again in production through Signature Prints .

Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz's white NYC apartment

This apartment is so spectacular - all in white. How stunning is a place all in white? And perhaps, how impractical? Regardless, these photos demonstrate what you can do with white..and a bit more white.....and even a little bit more white.

The smallest room

The powder room, the wc, the cloakroom, the little boys/girls room, the 0.5 of the 2.5 bathrooms, the toilet. An oft neglected space just ripe for decorating. Thinking of something a little "risky" elsewhere in the house, try it out first in the smallest room.
