This blog was started so that we could share our favourite inspirational design photos with you, and we would like to give you the opportunity to share yours with us as well. This is what we need you to do. We welcome links to great design sites or photos, but links are preferred so our inboxes don't fill up. If sending photos, please clearly state the name of your source whether magazine (and date if you have it), book (include author’s name and publisher) or website. Also please include your name so we can give you the credit, and a link to your site if you have one. The more information we have the more valuable this resource will become. There that was easy wasn’t it? Please remember that we cannot post if your photo is not adequately sourced. Now let’s have fun!

Ghislaine Viñas

Vane Becidyan just sent me a link to one of the most amazing designers I've ever seen. Ghislaine Viñas's work leaves me speechless - it's so graphic and colourful! She's been featured in many magazines, including O At Home. There were so many amazing photos on her website that I think I'll need to do a second installment for this post (so stay tuned!). (Thanks Vane!)

Greg Natale and his team of architects and interior designers are based out of Sydney, and they have a very modern, unique style. Here are some of my favourite photos:

David Hicks

More retro inspiration. This time from the legendary David Hicks forerunner of Jonathan Adler and Kelly Wearstler. He was the superstar designer of the 1960s and 1970s – sought after by royalty and the privileged. Though it's been many years since his last projects were centre stage in the design world, David Hicks' influence is still felt today. His use of pattern is amazing!

Fantastic bedrooms featuring fantastic headboards (bedheads right Jo?)

Headboards are a great way to get creative in a bedroom. You can do just about anything to create a headboard. Old shutters, pad and upholster wood, hang a huge picture...the list is endless. Here are some photos of unique headboards:

Marcel Marongiu's Parisian apartment

As stunningly refined as his designs, fashion designer Marcel Marongiu's apartment in Paris is crisp, classic and understated. Paying homage to the past, it is of the moment and unpretentious.

Target Living's use of art

Looking through the photos on Target Living's site, I couldn't help but be totally blown away by some of the artwork they use. I love pop art (Andy Warhol rocks) and they used alot of it, plus some really fun photographs.

Target Living

My sister found this fantastic link for Target Living, an interior architecture and design firm based in the UK. They are absolutely incredible - their style is so modern, colourful and just plain FUN. I think I was having heart palpitations and drooling on my laptop while perusing their site. Here are just some of the many fab photos on their site (more to come)!!!

Great design reflecting a great lifestyle. Practical ideas like the kitchen display cube and mirrored support column to steal as well.

In the mail today...

...was my new Chocolat magazine! I love magazine subscriptions - that little rush you get when you open the mailbox and see a magazine sitting there. Thought I'd give you a little peek of the new Chocolat.

Wall decals

Wall decals are such a great idea - particularly for renters. They make such a statement to walls that you may not be able to paint or do anything to otherwise. Or for someone just looking for something a little different. I have been thinking of some (in a sort of damask-type pattern in black) for the doors of my Ikea billy bookcase to spice them up a bit (they're the plastic insert doors as opposed to the more expensive glass ones I should have bought). There's so much you can do with these - use 'em on a wall, doors, car, family dog...anything :) Here are some used in the traditional way:

I love this apartment

Crisp black and white with the zing of lemon. This is the outstanding apartment of London architect Haifa Hammani. Light floods in on rooms full of design classics. Lush, liveable and totally inspiring.

Australian glam

A little glam goes a long way. When we want to be girly but sophisticated as well. I love the aboriginal art incorporated with the mirrored side table, canape and lucite lamp.

Wallpaper...you know you all love it!!!!

I love wallpaper too....and would love to use some (anywhere!) but at the moment I don't want to put that much effort into something when I plan on selling my house in the near future (wallpaper would not be a good selling feature either). So instead I search out all sorts of photos on the internet of gorgeous wallpapers and I hope that when the day comes when I decide to try some, that it won't have gone back out of style. So here's some I love from UK tile, wallpaper and flooring designer Dominic Crinson:

Here's one for sh*ts and giggles (can't imagine actually using this one):

Kenneth Brown's beach retreat

Kenneth Brown is the host of ReDesign, on HGTV. I have to say it's never been one of my favourite shows. I'm never really wowed by the results. Then I stumbled upon his beach retreat in Santa Monica featured in Western Interiors & Design magazine. I totally changed my mind about him - his place is amazing! Look for yourselves (from Kenneth Brown Design):

Tagged!

Vanessa De Vargas the uber stylish Turquoise has tagged us. She would like to know "5 things you may not already know about me". It's like Chinese whispers. It started out with weird things but I like this version better. OK....here we go.

1. My husband buys me the most beautiful artwork. So? He's totally blind.
2. I don't drive.
3. I sing Nina Simone in the shower badly.
4. You know I'm addicted to retro but I'm being seduced to the dark side - Hollywood Regency.
5. I was addicted to newspapers until I discovered the web. Alright I'm still addicted to newspapers.

Kim it's your turn now. And.......I'll let you choose, if anyone, we're going to tag. Everyone I know has been "it" already.

Ok - Kim here. Looks like it's my turn.

1. I have an identical twin sister. Her name is Julia (belladina on Flickr).
2. I don't think I look like your average design freak - I have 4 tattoos, 8 earrings, a belly ring and a nose ring. (See tattoo pics on Flickr)
3. I can drive, and have a car, but I can't drive my car - it's a standard and I never learned how. Boyfriend has to drive me everywhere - but I figure too bad, since he wrote off our automatic coming home from PEI in a snowstorm one Christmas.
4. I love fast cars and motorcycles - mostly because my boyfriend is obsessed with both. I want him to get a chopper so I can ride around on it with him.
5. Yes, I love cats but I absolutely adore animals, and have since I was little. I want a farm so I can stock pile animals. I wanted to be a vet throughout my childhood until a vet came to the school and told us you needed a 95% average in high school to be accepted to vet college. I was devastated.

And I'm tagging *Terramia* since I don't think she's been tagged yet.
